It is quite intriguing to know that iPods, MP3 players and other musical devices may just be the reason of your sudden and unexpected death. Yet, let’s not blame it all to the advancement of the modern technology but more so in the human factor itself.
The research published in the British journal Injury Prevention, cited that the cause in those who have been killed or badly injured while wearing headphones is due to the “inattentional blindness”. It is like driving a car at the same time using your mobile phone. It increases anyone’s risk of injury due to distractions that lowers your brains attention span to external stimuli. It simply lessens your attentiveness on what’s going on around you or in your surroundings.
The most surprising thing is the growing statistics in just six years. People who were killed or badly injured have tripled and the annual case rose from 16 to 47, according to the study. Two-thirds of the victims were males and less than 30 years old while more than half of the incidents were run down by trains, the study further revealed.
Does this show how easily human factor constitute as the main culprit? Or should technology be partly to be blamed? It’s your choice and your consequence to face.
