These days, more and more people are aware or perhaps became aware of the effects and health risks associated of being obese and overweight. That extra flab in the waist line carries a lot of medical and health issues if you aren’t going to get rid of it the soonest possible time. It’s like you are carrying a time bomb which would go off any time but the sad thing is that, you don’t know when it will explode.
The good thing is… the awareness and the urge to live a healthy lifestyle are there already. It is for this reason that people became vegetarians, having fruit diets and a lot more (hundreds perhaps) out there. And yet it is ironic that there are still too many who remain obese or lose only a little despite eating plenty of fruits or having a vegan diet.
Several days back, I read an article that fruit and veggie lovers are not immune to weight gain. So, I would like to quote a few good lines from that article…“Simply eating a lot of fruits and vegetables may not be enough to stave off the weight gain that often comes with age”. Are you kidding me? Will you agree on that? Or perhaps you simply saw yourself in it.
But let me clear one thing here, I am not in any way against vegan diet or whatever you have started already. In fact, I am aware that plant foods are full of nutrients and minerals that reduce the risk of chronic diseases. My point is that losing weight is not an easy task and one thing for sure; you are not going to have your weight back overnight. And it’s also for this fact that many are discourage and lose interest to continue when they see a little or no improvement at all.
And to those who were on weight loss diet, here’s what you should understand. That losing weight is a multi-factor event which involves healthy eating habits, the calorie intake (portion control) and exercise habits. So it points to the importance of overall lifestyle.

I totally agree that losing weight is not an easy task. I still haven’t had the success of losing off the weight I hoped for last year. Sigh! Maybe this year if I really do what I’m supposed to do. This doesn’t mean I won’t be eating more veggies.

I agree, it’s our lifestyle that determines the success of losing weight (or gaining for that matter), and other factors involved as well. Thanks for this post Sir Rob.
Nice article. My husband was able to get rid of his excess weight by exercising and eating healthy. If you cut down sugar this would help a lot. There are many fruits and vegetables that contain a lot of sugar and maybe that is one reason why some people don’t lose weight.
Very right Sir Rob! Thanks for the heads up!
