A week ago my wife brought our son in our neighbor’s house for a dinner there. Several minutes after, she returned holding our son with a huge swollen upper lip that looks like he was hit by a jab from a boxing match. My wife rushes back home to get the antihistamine of our son so he could take them right away before any further complications arise.
She then further narrated that our son was sitting on her lap while she was eating dinner. She was guessing that he might touched one of those foods that was in her plate that he eventually brushed on his upper lip. We have seen him several times already with a bout of allergic reactions to some foods yet this one is different from the rest since it is only his upper lip that was affected and blown up that big.
Although we are too careful right now with the foods that he is eating and this one was the first after a long while. And she suspects that he must have touched the fresh water fish called Tilapia (from one of those cichlid families). We have seen him before ate the same kind of fish and immediately had patches of rashes over his face and from then on we knew that he is allergic to Tilapia yet he is still eating fish but of different specie. However, I cannot still rule out that he’s only allergic to fresh water fish until he is exposed to other species and we will be doing that when he is able to talk to us already.
never heard of a child or person is allergic to a tilapia yet until now. that is so scary. If allergies aren’t assisted or cured immediately it can be dangerous. hope your son is better now.

That’s scary. Good thing it was treated right away and buti nalang you are always handa. I hope he’s only allergic with Tilapia and not with other delicious species of fish.

I remember that happened to me before because I ate some kind of a Tulingan fish. I don’t know what’s the English term but I am allergic to that particular fish, other types of fishes are ok. Your son might be experiencing the same too. Hope he feels better now.

yayy… that is so hard when a child is allergic to a fish or anything because we parents need to be careful all the time. some kids can have severe allergic reaction to fish that it could lead to life and death situation… i hope your kid is doesn’t have severe reaction to fish… okay lang ug mild lang…

Oh poor little guy, I guess it is not fun to be allergic to some food..it is a bit unusual to be allergic to tilapia I never heard it before until I read this post..I guess he needs to be expose to other things then you will know more about which food he is allergy to.

oh my that is so sad. =( i am so glad that my kids dont have any allergic reaction to anything as of now. it hurts to see them in such state. good thing he has a medicine for that.

I am not allergic to fish but I am allergic to many things like dust, extreme smells (perfumes or cooking oil being friend, etc), oats and so many more that is not a common reason to be allergic off.
