Although summer break is almost over yet there are still time to catch up with your kids for playing time either in your backyard or in public playgrounds. But you just have to make sure that the area that your kids are playing is safe and was set up properly in order to avoid untoward injuries.
So here are some of the safety tips for playground equipment that the American Academy of Pediatrics has offered:
- Make sure the surface under the playground is cushioned and absorbent, and extends at least 6 feet on all sides past the play area.
- Make sure the swing seats are made of a softer material, not metal or wood.
- Make sure the equipment is assembled correctly and securely anchored to the ground, with all bolts and screws capped. There should be no parts that are sharp, broken or rusty.
- Make sure the equipment is at least 6 feet away from walls or fences.
- Make sure metal surfaces don’t get too hot.
- Never attach any type of rope to the equipment.
- Don’t allow children to play inappropriately — no twisting, pushing empty swings or walking in front of moving swings.
- Always watch children carefully on playground equipment; don’t allow them to fight, push or shove.
And as I always reiterate, that “if you think safety is expensive… try injury”.

Safety is very important on playgrounds as kids tend to just play and not mind this things.

Sometimes even if we make our best to protect the kids, unexpected things still happen. Kids are kids and injury is part of growing up, it is good to know though that we did our best to protect them. Thanks for this post!

“if you think safety is expensive… try injury”. — so agree!!
… agree! best be safe than sorry!
SAFETY FIRST.
Children are so careless that
they don’t even realize that
they got hurt by others.
They are pre-occupied with
the games. parents should be
on the look out.

You’re so right! Spending for the health is worth it. I couldn’t let dangers happen just because I’m stingy or thrifty. In all rounds in life, it should be safety first.
Thanks for sharing!

Kids only play even if dangerous because they don’t mind things only happiness. So advise for the playground guards to check everything before they open the park for visitors to avoid unwanted circumstances like injuries and dangers.
