If you think Safety is Expensive… Try Injury

Last month’s tragic situation at the shopping mall that cost the lives of more than a dozen children has caught the attention of many people about fire safety guidelines. And it is very heartbreaking, knowing that it has to be from the expense of those innocent small children. It was another awful lesson to learn and could be very traumatic to the loved ones or should I say to the parents who were left behind.

Several shops were closed several days after the tragedy while waiting for the fire hazards to be corrected when it was discovered by the authorities during inspection. Some reopen a few days after but one of the biggest malls took about three weeks before they finally given the go signal to operate again. Yet there are several notable spots at the mall that are still closed to the public.

The tragedy reminds me again of the phrase “if you think safety is expensive… try injury”. I would say that there’s so much truth about it and oftentimes people just ignore it until something unpleasant circumstances will happen. It is a lesson learned at an awful way and it reminds us again of how important safety is. And it should start right at our own doorstep. And safety doesn’t stop by acquiring safety equipment, you should make sure that you know how to properly use and maintain it.

It is your choice, if you don’t want to be one of the statistics.

Definitely true! So sad to hear about the children. Here in our home, we have fire extinguisher hidden under the sink, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide(known as silent killer) detector. Its better to be safe than sorry right?
