Some Benefits of Alternative Medicine

There are some terminally ill people who resort to alternative medicine when they think that conventional treatments no longer work for them. For instance, they would rather eat a special diet than go through rounds of chemotherapy. Alternative medicine is a practice that is used instead of traditional therapy and cure. It may involve consuming herbal medicines, acupuncture, following a special diet, biofeedback (the power to use thoughts to control the body), reflexology, massage therapy, or anything that does not really adhere to the teachings of conventional medicine.

According to patients who have tried it already, it is quite effective in controlling pain when traditional treatments fail to work. It also involves exercises like yoga, tai chi, osteopathy etc. which improve overall bodily capacity and provides physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. Furthermore, a combination of alternative and traditional treatments can relieve some of the symptoms of cancer. Side effects of chemotherapy like nausea, headache, and vomiting are a lot more tolerable because of alternative medicine.

For people who want a more relaxed body, drink herbal teas. It not only improves bodily functions but stimulates and heals it as well. Chiropractic is another form of alternative medicine where manual therapy including joint adjustment and manipulation is emphasized. It treats the spine, other joints and tissues, and general health issues.

There are some patients though who are still doubtful about alternative medicine. However, more doctors are suggesting the combined use of alternative therapies and conventional medicine in treating illnesses.

I agree that alternative medicine has some place in symptom relief with many illnesses. Biofeedback by the way is becoming more an dmore accepted as a conventional method of treating certain symptoms, like those of irritable bowel syndrome.
